The paid options offer some additional benefits over their free counterparts such as impressive features and add-ons such as sub-titles, support for multiple file formats, and playback speeds. Anyone can simply download open-sourced website media players and stream video content whereas commercial players require a subscription fee. Mainly, HTLM5 video players can be broken down into two main categories, open-sourced web video players, and commercial or paid web video players. The next generation of website video players offers users many choices of HTLM5 video players. Choosing Between Open-Sourced Versus Paid HTLM Video Players It is important to mention that RTMP was the protocol that was used for delivering content to the Flash video player, and although Flash is dead, RTMP is still very valuable for streaming. The HLS delivery and RTMP ingest combination is the most optimal because it is highly compatible with low latency. ![]() Some even use HLS ingest, but HLS stream hosting and delivery are most commonly paired with RTMP ingest. Today, most online video platforms support HLS streaming. Initially, HLS was created by Apple specifically for streaming to an HTML5 video player. HTML5 video players use the HTTPS Live Streaming (HLS) protocol to receive content from the video CDN or online video player that is hosting the streaming. The Technological Background of HTML5 Video Player s The HTML5 video player is supported by all major operating systems and browsers, which means it is supported on pretty much any internet-enabled device imaginable. As of the end of 2020, Flash has been somewhat phased out, making HTML5 the only widely supported video player. iPhones and other Apple products were among the most popular mobile devices at the time, and that posed a big challenge. That meant broadcasters would miss out on the huge potential video content offered if their only streaming option was the coveted Flash player. The need for more compatible web video player s arose when Steve Jobs announced in 2012 that Apple devices would never support Flash players. The HTML5 streaming technology was created as a more widely compatible alternative to Adobe’s Flash player. What is an HTML5 Video Player? The addition of video players in HTLM was a monumental development for online video streaming.Ī video player in HTLM is a digital technology that allows broadcasters to share video content with users over the internet.

In the early 1960s when there was a housing construction boom in North America and the price of copper spiked, aluminum building wire was manufactured using utility grade AA-1350 aluminum alloy in sizes small enough to be used for lower load branch circuits in homes. The lower weight of aluminum wires in particular makes these electrical conductors well suited for use in power distribution systems by electrical utilities, as supporting towers or structures only need to support half the weight of wires to carry the same current. ![]() USD $1/lb as of 2017 ), aluminum wires are one-sixth the cost of copper wire of the same conductivity. Existing homes with this older aluminum wiring used in branch circuits present a potential fire hazard. Revised manufacturing standards for both the wire and the devices were developed to reduce the problems. Electrical devices (outlets, switches, lighting, fans, etc.) at the time were not designed with the particular properties of the aluminum wire being used in mind, and there were some issues related to the properties of the wire itself, making the installations with aluminum wire much more susceptible to problems. In North American residential construction, aluminum wire was used for wiring entire houses for a short time from the 1960s to the mid-1970s during a period of high copper prices. Aluminum wire in power transmission and distribution applications is still the preferred material today. It has cost and weight advantages over copper wires. Utility companies have used aluminum wire for electrical transmission in power grids since around the late 1800s to the early 1900s. Aluminum provides a better conductivity to weight ratio than copper, and therefore is also used for wiring power grids, including overhead power transmission lines and local power distribution lines, as well as for power wiring of some airplanes. 1970 East Berlin: workers in VEB Kabelwerk Oberspree producing aluminum wires with a SKET-built machineĪluminum building wiring is a type of electrical wiring for residential construction or houses that uses aluminum electrical conductors. ![]() ![]() ![]() The downside is the HDHP required.įSAs can be advantageous to those who don't plan on switching jobs and are savvy with what they spend their FSA funds on, so they don't lose them. Overall, HSAs are more flexible and key benefits include rollover potential, portability and self-employed eligibility. However, neither account usually incurs penalties as long as you spend the money on eligible expenses. With an HSA, if you use your funds for nonmedical expenses prior to age 65, you must declare that money on your income tax form for the year, and it's subject to a penalty. One other big benefit to keep in mind: With an FSA, the amount you declare is available to you at the first of the year, and you pay for it through each paycheck throughout the year - as opposed to an HSA, which you contribute small amounts to with each paycheck so the balance grows over time. Funds used for eligible medical expenses don't incur taxes. You can contribute to your FSA using your gross pay, which means the contributions are tax-free.Withdrawals can be made for child care expenses as well as medical expenses. Some other things to keep in mind about FSAs: FSAs aren't portable like HSAs, so you forfeit your accrual when you change jobs FSAs don't earn interest and self-employed individuals aren't eligible for an FSA. If you declined to open an FSA during open enrollment, you'll likely have to wait until the next open enrollment to do so.
